leftovers

I try to serve leftovers or eat them for lunch. However sometimes there is such a small amount left that it really won’t serve for a meal. If it is meat, I’ll give it to the dog. But when it’s fruits or vegetables, I usually end up throwing it away. I recently read a great idea for leftover veggies. Keep a baggie in the freezer into which you put the small portions of leftover veggies like carrots, green beans, corn, etc. When you get enough, put them into a soup! Perfect! As for the leftover fruits, I now do the same. Only when I get enough, I use them to make fruit smoothies.

concrete boxes

I have not done any research to find out if this is true, but my husband told my son today that most people are buried in concrete boxes, that the caskets are placed down in concrete. We thought that was weird. It seems more natural to allow the body to decompose back into the soil and allow nature to take its course this way. Of course my son had to expand the idea that if all the concrete cracked at once and then the fumes of the decomposing bodies escaped all at once….well, he said it would make a cool movie!

Each New Day

As I was finishing a short biography on Corrie ten Boom last night, I read that she had written a book called Each New Day. I had not heard of this book before and was pleased that I had chosen that as the name of this blog! I’d like to think that great minds think alike, but I know that I am nowhere on the same plane as Ms. ten Boom.
