can I even afford to see a dentist?

I learned today that I am not sure we can afford to go to the dentist. I know it is taking a chance that we may not can afford NOT to go, but paying for dental visits is expensive! We have been receiving free dental work over the last several years. Due to some scheduling changes, and the fact that the office does not return our calls, I need to find a new dentist. I called one recommended by a hygienist friend today. For new patients, the cost is around $200 each and regular visits will be around $100 each. They do not see new patients outside of school hours (my son does not want to miss school.) They take off the two weeks of Christmas and New Year’s. So I can try to find an in-service day to take my son. This is going to be more costly than I realized….

discount dental plans

It seems as if keeping the family healthy is a feat in itself. We have long been without insurance, medical or dental. These are things we just have not been able to afford. It is hard for the middle class folks who are self-employed and/or have few other collegues to find affordable health care.

We have recently thought of changing our dental care over, but just cannot afford to leave our dentist who gives us relief from the high price of dental care. I just learned today about the new discount dental plans available. When I had my wisdom teeth removed a few years ago, we used the Care Credit to be able to make monthly payments on the surgery. Having a dental plan seems to be a good idea, especially as it looks like my daughter will be needing braces soon.

These discount plans start at $79.95 a year. They offer a 10-60% savings on most dental services. There is no paperwork to deal with and even a thirty day refund policy. There are no health restrictions, no annual limitations and these plans are available to individuals, families and groups. Joining today will also add three months free onto your plan.
